This. Is. Italian. I was brought by my roommate. She bragged and this place earned the rights. I will be back. I had fettechini (sp.) marinara florentine. I'm saying this with an Italian American accent with all the hand motions. My intro salad was blah and no bread was brought out prior to the meal. That was disappointing. I wanted a more festive salad. My Mark West Pinot noir was preserved well. Great balance and flavor. It was crowded with families. I believe I was the only brown face in the building. I didn't get many looks though. Our service was great. The staff was young and underdressed. The place looks Italian swanky but the atmosphere was relaxed. My pasta was al dente, my sauce was full of flavor and thick. No watered down tomato paste. The spinach was chopped, bright green and tasteful. The cheese blended well and the chicken atop was tender. The flavor of the chicken was very on point but never took over the flavor of the sauce. (I have this problem at home.) the bread stick accompanying my dish was a great compliment. I could not finish my dish and I'm not a light eater. I cannot wait to return. It's a ways off the beaten path but the right person will make it worth the trip. I'm excited to return and try the other dishes.

Life-time pizza lover. This IS the best pizza in the area! Nicely decorated, too. Prices very reasonable. Absolutely going back!

Came in from out of town for a family event. Was seated pretty quickly with my sister and her family. We all ordered something different. I ordered the lasagna and we all shared an order of 8 cheese sticks (Note! They're HUGE!) we each only ate one. Now with lasagna I am a HUGE snob, no one makes it like mom and I rarely even give places the chance due to multiple disappointments. This lasagna was AMAZING!! The sauce, the cheese and the pasta was just delicious. Add the sausage it's worth it! Everyone else's meals were enjoyed just as much! Of course none of us could finish the giant portions so we had lunch the next day. Will be going back my next trip to town.

This place couldn't be any better. The second you walk in the door you are hit with awesome smells of classic Italian food! On a Friday night we were seated with out waiting and our waitresses was over in seconds with ice cold draft Labatt (big deal for us Chicago people who love Canadian beer). Our food was out so quickly and it was so very tasty. From this pizza loving Chicago girl...this pizza could hold its own in the pizza capital of the world.

Cugino's may even be a 5 star place but since I've only been there once it's 4 stars for now. As a former New Yorker I have had a few calzone's in my lifetime. The calzone I had at Cugino's is the best I have ever tasted, hands down, by a mile.....friendly staff, very well priced. I visit Grand Ledge often and will be back for sure!

I am never disappointed when I come to this place! All of the food is very very good, and the pizza, is better then the one that wins best pizza every year in the Lansing area, in my opinion!

Whenever I want Italian food I head to Cuginos. They have delicious pizza, salads, and pasta with huge portions. I always bring home leftovers. The pasta Giovanni is my favorite entree and I also love the homemade vodka sauce. The only downside is the restaurant can be very loud at times and hard to hold a conversation at times. Overall it's probably the best restaurant in grand ledge.

Great local place. Good service. Huge portions. I recommend sharing. Minestrone soup was good, not spectacular. Lasagna was ridiculous size. Get the half order :) Slightly greasy but delicious.

Can't go wrong with anything here. Staff is great. Service is always quick, even when it's packed. The breaded ravioli are fantastic. Pizza and calzones are killer. You get a lot of food, way too much for one meal. We are always taking home leftovers. Worth a drive to try them out.

I've heard about this place for a long time and everyone raved about it. Finally went there with some friends and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is so-so run if the mill but after that it gets much better. The service was great from start to finish and we stayed for over an hour after dinner. We were asked if we wanted anything else but not made to feel like we were being pushed out the door. The wine list was short but I recognized most of the selections as good to very good and the most expensive was $22 a bottle. I had bruschetta, which was very good, with a lot of cheese and fresh tomatoes. The lasagna was excellent and there was so much of it for $11 that I ate it for two days afterwards. The food and service were excellent and the prices were unbelievable. Dinner for two with an appetizer and a bottle of wine for $57. Can't beat that.

The pizza and calzones here are excellent and the servers very polite and attentive. They actually messed up our order but we're very upfront about it and made the necessary corrections in very little time. I just wished I lived nearby and could visit more often!

Delicious, reasonably priced food and drinks. Nice restaurant with a good ambience. Appropriate for families, while still being 'nice'. Can be a long wait, so I recommend call ahead seating. You'll still have to wait a bit, but not nearly as long as you would if you walked in. Good service too!

Cugino's easily has the best pizza in the Lansing area, and the Pasta Roma is the best pasta dish that I've ever eaten. Prices are very reasonable. I have had spotty service here, but the food makes up for it. They have a large seating area and the food comes quickly. You sometimes have to wait, but that's to be expected at 7:00 on a Friday or Saturday night. People who complain about the wait would do well to take their patronage to Fazoli's.

Cuginos without question serves some of the best Italian food in the area. Great food, great prices, and an excellent staff.

Nice atmosphere. Great food. I always get the cheese ravioli in vodka sauce, so I can't speak for many of the dishes they offer, but this one is delicious. Also, get the salad that comes with your entree. very good. Some of the best sangria I've ever had too. A MUST TRY. There's usually a wait on the weekends but they do have call ahead seating.

If you want gourmet pizza or fine Italian cuisine, this place is for you. Personally I'm a huge huge fan of their Hawaiian calzone. It's cheap, but the portion size is huge! They're Lasagna is also amazing. If you order a full order, you can easily split it with someone or save half for dinner. I also must mention their spinach Alfredo chicken pizza. Sounds weird.. Amazing! My family orders that a lot. They have very friendly wait staff and the the environment is upscale, but relaxed and a great place for a family dinner.

I got a couple pizzas, wings and mozzarella stix from here for takeout on the advise of a friend and it did not disappoint. Pizza was excellent, wings were awesome. That being said, the first time the wife and I went there, we had a horrible experience and left due to the poor service and extremely rude waitstaff. I'm sure this is not indicative of the general service but when we went, it was not busy or crowded at all. The wife had just got out of the hospital after surgery and was looking for something lighter but was made to feel quite embarrassed for even asking questions about the menu. We ended up leaving right after that and did not return until today. Because of this earlier we are a little skittish about dining in :/

Amazing food with great flavor. The pizza is a winner no matter what kind! This us you're typical Italian restaurant with pretty decent servers all around. The prices are slightly high, but still in a good range for what you get. I would definitely recommend!

We decided to try it based on a recommendation from a friend and have been going back ever since. I loved their calzones. Very reasonably priced (I can usually eat half and take half home, or split with a friend for dinner). Pizza is also quite good, but keep in mind that there is a 20-30 min wait for pizza or calzone. Beautiful interior. Staff was very friendly. We will definitely be back.

I really like the pizza, my wife really likes the pasta. The restaurant is homey and very local feeling. Wait staff is high school students. Not all of the food is great, but we like going there with out of towners.

My experience at Cugino's was overall positive. I had fortunately skimmed the other reviews upon arrival, so was not surprised that our wait (as it was a Friday) was estimated at 35 minutes. Despite the wait, the food smelled delicious, so my mom, sister, and I decided to stick it out. The hostesses were very friendly and were obviously trying to seat people as quickly as possible. Impressively, they seated a walk-in group of 14 within 15-20 minutes of their arrival during the dinner rush. Ambiance & Staff: The simple decor and dark wood create a pleasant, but cozy ambiance. Maybe it was the table of 14 near us, but it did feel a bit cramped in the seating arrangement, and with that, conversation noise overall was relatively loud. Despite the noise, though, my mom, sister, and I were still able to converse without yelling or feeling like we couldn't be heard. The wait staff was extremely friendly and as attentive as could be considering the packed house during a Friday night dinner rush. Food: I ordered the chicken marsala which came with a bread stick and a side of alfredo, and all three were lackluster. I posted a picture of this dish, which you can find above. I was expecting a nice piece of chicken with a marsala sauce on top, but what I got was a bowl full of a sauce with no chicken in sight. Fishing through the sauce, I found a flat, unimpressive piece of chicken drowning at the bottom of the dish. The chicken was somewhat chewy and flavorless, and the texture/taste lead me to think it was pre-cooked and simply warmed for my order. The sauce was actually decent with a simple wine flavor and plenty of mushrooms, but the sauce-to-chicken ratio was way off. The alfredo was only okay. The noodles were cooked well, but they had the texture of pasta leftovers: dry, sticky, and somewhat grainy. Perhaps this had also been pre-cooked and simply reheated for my order. I mixed the pasta into my marsala sauce and that improved the flavor enough to eat it. The bread stick was also pretty dry (tasted like it had been out for awhile), so I did not eat much of it. The pizza, however, was the star of the dinner. It was DELICIOUS! My mom and sister ordered a cheese and mushroom Chicago-style pizza, and they were not disappointed. The crust was crispy without being burnt, the mushrooms were well distributed, and the ratio of toppings & sauce was spot on. This dish was a polar opposite to my marsala, it was impressive and well worth the wait. We had enough pizza to take home and were very excited that it was just as delicious later that night and the next day as well. Rating: My chicken marsala was a 1 or 2 star dish at very best. The textures and flavors were underwhelming and really did feel like eating left-overs, which I would never pay to do. However, the deliciousness of the pizza, the friendliness of each staff member we encountered, and the speed at which we were tended despite the incredibly busy Friday night really deserve a 4 or 5. So I have compromised with a 3. Despite the disappointment over my own dish, this is obviously a popular spot in Grand Ledge, and I saw many other pasta dishes given to patrons around our table that looked much better than what I had. I would love to go back to try those other dishes as well as to experience that pizza again.

I have tried the chicken Parmesan and a few other dishes from this place and they are top notch. Good carry out order times and nice atmosphere dining in. Salads and appetizers are nice additions to your meal. Full bar adds a touch of class to the place. 10/10 would recommend.

We've been going to Cugino's for years and I've never heard a bad thing about anything on the menu. I would try more menu selections but the pizza and calzone's are so darn good I never get anything else! I can honestly say I'm in LOVE with the spinach calzone and it's so big I can take 1/2 to go and eat the next day. Love Cugino's!!

This place is like smiley faces for your belly. The food is good; The serving sizes are large. Only complaint that I have is that it's always crowded.... but it's crowded for a reason. One might blame the surrounding restaurants for not being good enough to draw customers away from Cuginos.

  • Dean K.

The food is good but the process of seating is ridiculous. It is not a good place for young families that need a short wait time. Even with their supposed call ahead seating we were in for a 30 minute wait after a 25 minute drive. Called 40 minutes before arriving so I would have thought that a table would have been ready but they are not that quick on their feet. This was the last time that I will make the trip to Cugino's.

Every time I come to Grand Ledge I must eat at Cuginos! Wonderful food and a great patio. I love the pizzas and also really like the baked pastas. The portions are huge and I always leave with leftovers. This is the best sports bar and most romantic restaurant in GL!

Really good Italian food. Minus one star only because I'm not a fan of cheese. There's cheese on everything.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Ravioli with Vodka Sauce. I highly recommend it. The breadsticks that come with the pasta are really big, doughy and yummy. My boyfriend had lasagna and was less than impressed - there was just nothing special about it. His caesar salad was pretty good, but my dinner salad was pretty plain old plain old. I look for something better in an Italian restaurant. Drinks were reasonably priced. Service was ok. Atmosphere was nice.

Tried this place recently (Aug 2011) and was pleasantly surprised. It has a large interior. The pasta stuffed shells were absolutely delicious. The buttery garlic bread was hot. The side salad (I got the caesar) was pretty huge. I liked everything very much, but there was SO much that I took home a big portion. The service was friendly. The atmosphere is nice, a bit dim after the sun went down. Obviously a local favorite, I went on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and it was packed. Can't wait to take my daughter here, she loves pasta and they had a large (but not too large), menu of traditional favorites. I think I might try the sirloin marsala next time. The calzones that other diners ordered were very big. My dinner was $10.99, the drink was $1.99 (refilled), and very much worth the price.

I have heard that this is owned by cousins of the people who own Deluca's. Cugino's has everything that Deluca's has but with good pasta. The pesto pasta always tastes super fresh, and comes with a big buttery garlic breadstick on the side. For all the food you get the prices are inexpensive, and the atmosphere is pretty nice. Some of the best Italian in the Lansing area. Try the breadsticks with cheese--you won't be disappointed.

By far the best pizza and breadsticks I've ever had! I have always gotten takeout pizza, can't wait to dine in soon and try something new. The restaurant is very clean and is very nice looking....great job Cugino's :)

Cugino's is excellent. Great Italian for a small town - and a must try for Lansing locals. I actually like their bar / standard dining area. They have a side cut out for more of a sports bar dining experience as well. The only knock is the overall space does not compete with the number of patrons knocking their door down on a Friday or Saturday night. So, if you stop in - be prepared that you might have a wait. BUT - it is worth it. So don't be scared away. The homemade breadsticks are fantastic. Definitely a need as a starter. Have tried multiple pasta dishes which each were tasty and more than enough to fill you up. Actually - take home was required. I have not had the pizza or calzone yet (believe it or not) - but I hear they are excellent too. This is a place that will have your taste buds watering.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
